Carina is a 100% Italian, Bay Area native and became a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist through Napa State Hospital's dietetic internship program. She now works as a worksite wellness dietitian through Plus One Health Management onsite at Facebook Headquarters in California. Carina earned her Master’s Degree in Nutrition & Food Science from California State University, Chico in May 2018, following her bachelor’s degree in English and Psychology from Loyola Marymount University. Her non-traditional educational background helps gives her a distinct perspective in the nutrition and wellness field.
Carina’s upbringing in an Italian family fuels her passion for helping people learn that healthy food and cooking can be one of life's greatest pleasures. Her non-diet approach to wellness is practical for making sustainable, lifelong choices about what to eat. Carina meets clients where they are in their health journey to help them set and achieve realistic health goals.
Carina has been a nutrition freelance writer for the past 5 years, and has been published in Food & Nutrition magazine, Southern Dallas Magazine, and The Culinarian, among many others. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics, and has received several awards for her efforts in nutrition education and research, including Outstanding Teaching Associate, Outstanding Professional Research, and Outstanding Dedication to the Nutrition & Food Science major from California State University, Chico. She loves public speaking, leading cooking classes, and connecting with an audience. In her spare time, you can find her trying out new restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area, hiking, reading, hanging out with her close friends, or cooking.
Her favorite foods change often, but currently are burrata with fresh tomatoes and basil, anything drenched in tahini sauce, and vanilla bean ice cream- though ice cream stays on the list permanently.
